We are at double digits for posts now!
Today's offering is left overs from my video game days. ( R.I.P. )
The first two were studies/ roughs of the main human villain for Monolith's Aliens vs Predator 2.
General Rykov. A hard nosed, surly guy.
And this is from 2004's Lemony Snicket's game.
A power meter for your character aptly named the misery meter.
Oh, the tongue in cheek joke of making a misery meter for a video game.
And now a tangent...
Video games. Never what it should have been after all those years.
I loved the people I worked
with. Most of them. Found some good friends along the way.
I'm sure they feel the same. The ones that
don't...?

"We're all sensitive people
With so much to give
Understand me, sugar
Since we've to be here
Let's live
I love you
There's nothing wrong with me
Loving you, baby no no
And giving yourself to me can never be wrong
If the love is true."

Excellent, inspiring music for the short time he was here.

At
the last checkpoint of the Outer rim, a lone guard keeps alert with stims and the slight breeze of the evening.
Two anti -grav Check point robot guards are his
only company.
The Titan gun tugs hover back and forth in an alternating crisscross
pattern. A dated relic from a long forgotten campaign, but no less deadly for their age and wear.
Mendel
checks his counter and sighs.
“ I should alternate them.”
“ I should alternate them.”
He
cracks a stim under his nose and inhales, but coughs and throws the stim
capsule to the ground.
What
the hell is wrong w/ me?!
How did I get to this point?
A worthless sentry on a long forgotten outpost w/ two scrap heaps for company?! They are as old as my grandfather himself when he was in the service of the Imperium.
A worthless sentry on a long forgotten outpost w/ two scrap heaps for company?! They are as old as my grandfather himself when he was in the service of the Imperium.
What a
solider he was!
A glorious career in the military, serving in deadly campaigns
and fighting for a just cause. Honored by all who knew him and served under his
command.
Look at me …demoted so many times, they dump me
at the furthest checkpoint in the realm.
An embarrassment to the uniform and with two mindless antiques that need constant repair.

The Graduate.
Ben and Elaine.
Benjamin Braddock, who will soon turn 21, returns to his parents' home in Southern California after graduating from a college on the East Coast. At his graduation party, all his parents' friends want to know about Benjamin's upcoming plans for graduate school or a career, something about which Benjamin is clearly uncomfortable and anxious. His parents ignore his anxiety and are only interested in talking about his academic and athletic successes and their plans for him to attend graduate school.
Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father's law partner, asks Benjamin to drive her home from the party. She invites Benjamin inside and attempts to seduce him, removing her clothes. She tells Benjamin, who becomes increasingly nervous, that she finds him attractive and wants him to know that she is available to him anytime. Mr. Robinson arrives home but neither sees nor suspects anything. He advises Benjamin that he should relax and enjoy his youth while he still can. A few days later, Benjamin contacts Mrs. Robinson and clumsily organizes a tryst at a hotel, and the two begin an affair.
Benjamin spends the summer floating in a pool by day and meeting Mrs. Robinson at the hotel at night. Through their encounters, Benjamin discovers that they have nothing in common but also learns that Mrs. Robinson was forced to give up college and marry someone she did not love when she became pregnant with her daughter, Elaine.
However, under increasing pressure from his parents to begin a career or enroll in grad school, Benjamin is set up on a date with Elaine, whom Benjamin last saw in high school, by his father and Mr. Robinson. Although Mrs. Robinson has made it clear to Benjamin that he is to have nothing to do with Elaine, Benjamin eventually succumbs to the pressure and takes Elaine out on a date. During the course of their date, Benjamin goes out of his way to mistreat and be rude to Elaine, even going as far as taking her to a lewd strip joint, in order to sabotage the evening. As Elaine begins to sob, Benjamin explains his motives and that he only asked her out on a date as an obligation from each of their fathers. The two reconcile and each discover that they are able to discuss their current worries and their plans for future happiness.

A look back.Sketchbook posts starting next week.
Hi, folks!
I always want to post new work on here but at the moment, I am committed to various long term projects.
So, in wanting to stay relevant and keep this blog in bloom, I am going to be posting various works from my old sketchbooks, which probably haven't been seen by many. Lots and lots of doodles from a more whimsical time.
I will post at least one a day if possible.
I will attempt to not go past two days.
Stay tuned and check back often.
You may find something you like!
Here's a preview from '94.
18 yrs old.
Just starting to learn at Art Institute.
This was drawn from a VHS tape at the AIS library, which at the time, had great freeze frame T.V.'s for VHS cassettes.
An early drawing trying a Moebius style of art and character. Nothing Euro comic art or quasi-mysterious here, but worth a look.

Drew this years ago before all three episodes of Star Wars were fully realized.
Always thought it would be a love triangle between Obi, Padme and Darth that sends things spiraling in motion.
Just a doodle, no great fan boy fiction here.

Space Glider

Commander Rann.
Explorer of the Microverse and leader of the Micronauts.
One thousand years ago, Commander Arcturus Rann set out on a voyage to explore the Microverse. While his conscious mind spent a thousand years in suspended animation, his subconscious made contact with the Enigma Force. At intervals, astral copies of Rann would appear and become new Time Travelers. Some of them became Shadow Priests, who set up churches devoted to worship of Dallan and Sepsis (Rann's royal parents). All this activity prepared Rann to confront Baron Karza when he returned home. At the proper moment, the Shadow Priests shed their disguises and reunited with Rann, giving him the power to defeat Karza.

Acroyer

Acroyer of the Micronauts.
Acroyear was crown prince of the ebony-skinned race whose name he bore. For a time, Acroyear's people served Karza under the mind control of Shaitan, Acroyear's traitorous, albino brother. To help defeat Baron Karza, Acroyear sacrificed the Worldmind of his home planet Spartak, thus rendering it incapable of supporting life. For this, he was branded a traitor and cast out by his people while his bonded mate Cilicia ruled as regent. Acroyear vowed to redeem himself and traveled with the Micronauts, most of whom are also outcasts. Stoic in battle yet hospitable to his comrades, Acroyear did not believe it weakness for a warrior to express his feelings to those he loved. He confided in the Micronauts and his complex warrior philosophy often served as spiritual nourishment to his fellow Micronauts. Acroyear hoped to make his people understand that a warrior need not become as cold as the steel they wield in battle. But Acroyear fought alone as his race chose neutrality in the war against Karza.

Marionette

Princess Mari of Homeworld, along with her brother, Prince Argon, were the only survivors of the slaughtered figurehead royal family just before Rann's return. They had the hapless job of initiating rebellion against Baron Karza. Argon, who became Force Commander after his alteration in Karza's Body Banks, eventually died after being temporary host for a resurrected Karza. Marionette called the Micronauts family and Commander Rann her love. She served as nominal leader of the Micronauts during a brief, trying period when a demoralized Commander Rann removed himself from active duty following a major defeat. Strong-willed and independent while still warm and generous, she showed no mercy to those who willingly served Karza's evil. But she would risk her life to persuade any who serve Karza because they saw no other hope that there was an alternative. Her hand of friendship brought one of Karza's former creatures, Huntarr, into the fold.

Custom Skate deck
Here's the attempt.

My first skate deck for a friend's birthday.
I was given free artistic merit to draw something "cool".
There is a tradition amongst this group of friends to put their dogs image on a skate deck proudly and lovingly.
I was commissioned to decorate this one w/ sharpie, which as a medium on a gloss board was a little unforgiving...I had flashbacks of being 18yrs old all over again w/ the subject matter and the sharpies limitations.
I would have loved to put in more time and the process kind of felt like tattooing a bit w/ transfers, the type, etc.
It was a good time and that chihuahua is something else.
Bit the hell out of my knee and still goes for me every time I see him!
