Sorry to be away for so long.

Short back story...
I submitted my comic to Heavy Metal magazine and another company four years ago.

Cut to 2013.
I receive an email from Heavy Metal magazine saying they love my submission, want to publish it and it pays.

Please visit my Facebook page for more about the comic and where to get it.

P.S.
Heavy Metal magazine changed the way I looked at comics, art, storytelling in my teens.
I was a lucky dude to have stumbled upon the first twelve vintage issues of the 1970's magazine that had names like Moebius, Druillet, Corben, Ellison, Picaret, Tardi, Caza, Wrightson, etc.

All these artists were pouring hot fire on each page they wrote/worked on.

So, all these years later, it's a dream come true.

Stay tuned for more.
mustache and his bright, impressionistic portrayals of the world's top
sporting events, died in New York on Wednesday. He was 91.

Neiman was born June 8,
1921, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Lydia Sophia Serline and
Charles Julius Runquist. He later took the surname of one of his
stepfathers, after his biological father abandoned the family, his
biography says.

He enlisted in the army
in 1942, serving during World War II. Neiman was in the invasion of
Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, according to his
publicist Gail Parenteau, later attending Chicago's prestigious School
of the Art Institute on the G.I. Bill.

Neiman taught at the
Institute for 10 years early in his career before gaining recognition as
a contributing artist for Playboy in the 1950s.

The series "Man at His
Leisure" appeared in the magazine for 15 years, showing the artist's
impressions of sporting events and social activities. Included in the
series was the Grand Prix in Monaco, the Beatles in London and the
running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.

Staying true to his style, Neiman's public persona was as almost as colorful as his artwork.

"I guess I created LeRoy Neiman," the artist once said, according to the biography on his website. "Nobody else told me how to do it. Well, I'm a believer in the theory that the artist is as important as his work."

***********
I have read a few articles that say Playboy tarnished his reputation as a serious artist.

I HIGHLY disagree and think he was a defining visionary of Playboy's legendary image and style.
Plus, he looked like he had fun doing it.
Thumb through any vintage issue of Playboy and tell me its not true.

Rest, in peace.
Its a fantastic book and I really fell into drawing it for some time...
There is a good body of sketches from that time I read the book over and over.
A little bit of Moebius' concept influence and some David Lynch-ian feeling helped to round out my ideas as well.

I will put the whole image together, but for now here's some parts of this giant sheet of character sketches.

Today's offering is left overs from my video game days. ( R.I.P. )

The first two were studies/ roughs of the main human villain for Monolith's Aliens vs Predator 2.

General Rykov. A hard nosed, surly guy.

And this is from 2004's Lemony Snicket's game.

A power meter for your character aptly named the misery meter.
Oh, the tongue in cheek joke of making a misery meter for a video game.

And now a tangent...
Video games. Never what it should have been after all those years.
I loved the people I worked
with. Most of them. Found some good friends along the way.
I'm sure they feel the same. The ones that
don't...?
Its a great feeling as an artist when you are finally able to draw
the subject matter you admired and grew up with.
This is copied/redrawn from a really neat Robotech art book that came out some 20+ years ago.

I seem to draw a Nina girl every now and then. I don't know any Ninas but seem to like the name, I guess.
The Graduate.
Ben and Elaine.

Benjamin Braddock, who will soon turn 21, returns to his parents'
home in Southern California after graduating from a college on the East
Coast. At his graduation party, all his parents' friends want to know
about Benjamin's upcoming plans for graduate school or a career,
something about which Benjamin is clearly uncomfortable and anxious. His
parents ignore his anxiety and are only interested in talking about his
academic and athletic successes and their plans for him to attend
graduate school.
Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father's law partner, asks Benjamin to
drive her home from the party. She invites Benjamin inside and attempts
to seduce him, removing her clothes. She tells Benjamin, who becomes
increasingly nervous, that she finds him attractive and wants him to
know that she is available to him anytime. Mr. Robinson arrives home but
neither sees nor suspects anything. He advises Benjamin that he should
relax and enjoy his youth while he still can. A few days later, Benjamin
contacts Mrs. Robinson and clumsily organizes a tryst at a hotel, and
the two begin an affair.
Benjamin spends the summer floating in a pool by day and meeting Mrs.
Robinson at the hotel at night. Through their encounters, Benjamin
discovers that they have nothing in common but also learns that Mrs.
Robinson was forced to give up college and marry someone she did not
love when she became pregnant with her daughter, Elaine.
However, under increasing pressure from his parents to begin a career
or enroll in grad school, Benjamin is set up on a date with Elaine,
whom Benjamin last saw in high school, by his father and Mr. Robinson.
Although Mrs. Robinson has made it clear to Benjamin that he is to have
nothing to do with Elaine, Benjamin eventually succumbs to the pressure
and takes Elaine out on a date. During the course of their date,
Benjamin goes out of his way to mistreat and be rude to Elaine, even
going as far as taking her to a lewd strip joint, in order to sabotage
the evening. As Elaine begins to sob, Benjamin explains his motives and
that he only asked her out on a date as an obligation from each of their
fathers. The two reconcile and each discover that they are able to
discuss their current worries and their plans for future happiness.
While his conscious mind spent a thousand years in suspended animation, his subconscious made contact with the Enigma Force. At intervals, astral copies of Rann would appear and become new Time Travelers. Some of them became Shadow Priests, who set up churches devoted to worship of Dallan and Sepsis (Rann's royal parents). All this activity prepared Rann to confront Baron Karza when he returned home. At the proper moment, the Shadow Priests shed their disguises and reunited with Rann, giving him the power to defeat Karza.memodiazarthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00946331527273234043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171680025758192088.post-43732614689164907842011-08-23T17:00:00.000-07:002011-10-17T20:19:24.131-07:00Acroyer<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBDfDMniARJjVviFWo4sCld595QpUDkmiiSQCNIeznNCxOG7rCO97sbWD_IYWsX8X3guuIS-68ii64T538QkXXhZNurf4Pg6hsDGXzuQbRI5fOtFWCZnK3hqkGaHEycfW_NPA2Xel44Vzp/s400/ACROYER-SWORD.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649394559423225202" />

Acroyer of the Micronauts.

Acroyear was crown prince of the ebony-skinned race whose name he bore. For a time, Acroyear's people served Karza under the mind control of Shaitan, Acroyear's traitorous, albino brother. To help defeat Baron Karza, Acroyear sacrificed the Worldmind of his home planet Spartak, thus rendering it incapable of supporting life. For this, he was branded a traitor and cast out by his people while his bonded mate Cilicia ruled as regent. Acroyear vowed to redeem himself and traveled with the Micronauts, most of whom are also outcasts. Stoic in battle yet hospitable to his comrades, Acroyear did not believe it weakness for a warrior to express his feelings to those he loved. He confided in the Micronauts and his complex warrior philosophy often served as spiritual nourishment to his fellow Micronauts. Acroyear hoped to make his people understand that a warrior need not become as cold as the steel they wield in battle. But Acroyear fought alone as his race chose neutrality in the war against Karza.memodiazarthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00946331527273234043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171680025758192088.post-42898770578010484592011-07-21T14:56:00.000-07:002011-10-17T20:19:38.981-07:00Marionette<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 314px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcBac6iDvZ0uerOgNCh3rySKgbT_5ae0ENhvzfyjPBe5-GFD6nNloFUHsC0enP3IpjypWWMi2U88lH4HlLDNdtFKwRtsC8c_oQBru_dxuJLiauhRkbFGKt-2NHCscu0pNQenUEDIMxRZxg/s400/Marionette.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5637462676976356482" />

Princess Mari of Homeworld, along with her brother, Prince Argon, were the only survivors of the slaughtered figurehead royal family just before Rann's return. They had the hapless job of initiating rebellion against Baron Karza. Argon, who became Force Commander after his alteration in Karza's Body Banks, eventually died after being temporary host for a resurrected Karza. Marionette called the Micronauts family and Commander Rann her love. She served as nominal leader of the Micronauts during a brief, trying period when a demoralized Commander Rann removed himself from active duty following a major defeat. Strong-willed and independent while still warm and generous, she showed no mercy to those who willingly served Karza's evil. But she would risk her life to persuade any who serve Karza because they saw no other hope that there was an alternative.
